Position Summary

Our continued growth has created an opportunity to join our Information Technology team as a Database Administrator I (onsite or remote off-hour support - 4pm to 12 midnight).    


  • Work within a team environment to ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO). Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server performance and outages as they occur during but not limited to off-hour (4pm to 12 midnight).
  • Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
  • Configure new SQL Servers to match the enterprise standard configuration.
  • Deploy/Rollback database change scripts during scheduled MTP (Move to Production).
  • When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including server configuration changes, or index/query changes.
  • Test and implement of cutting-edge feature
  • Upgrade/migrate SQL servers to newer versions
  • Manage and troubleshoot replication (SQDR) both to and from the AS400/DB2 environment
  • Control access permissions and privileges to various stakeholders/departments
  • Work closely with DBA team, IT project managers and application developers for issue resolution and performance tuning
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
  • Develop database documentation, including standards and emergency procedures
  • Work during off hour (4:00pm to 12 midnight). Onsite/Offsite.

Technical and Product Knowledge:

DBA Job Specific Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of SQL or T-SQL
  • Understands architecture of current RDBMS
  • Good understanding of security best practices
  • Proficient at creating views, stored procedures, functions and table structures.
  • Has command of business process and procedure in writing code.
  • Some understanding of or experience programming languages
